The Graco DuetConnect DLX Swing and Bouncer has been a lifesaver to my husband and I on more than one occasion! Since we received this, we have been able to put Jackson down without him just lying on his back. I'm not sure if every baby is this way, but Jackson would much rather be able to sit up and watch the world happening around him than be laying down and staring at a blank ceiling. The swing has a smooth motion and so far it is not very noisy . Perhaps, however, the best thing about this is the fact that you can remove the seat from the base of the swing and it becomes a bouncer. It's pretty amazing!
This Chicago Cubs diaper bag was the best thing I could have gotten for my husband. He is constantly asking if we can take his diaper bag instead of mine whenever we go out for a day trip. While it doesn't have as much storage in the main compartment as most bucket diaper bags do, it definitely serves the husbands well (and why not be able to represent their favorite Sports team at the same time?!)! I was able to find this for a steal on Target.com in the spring, but since has come off their website. It wouldn't hurt to check right before the baseball season starts to see if they restock - if not, you can always purchase straight from the Diaper Dude website (see link under picture).
Pack n Plays (or playards) in general are a good idea to have. This particular one is the one we decided to get, however they all serve the same basic purpose. The reason we chose this one is purely because we didn't have a bouncer or a changing table at the time (we received the Swing and Bouncer combo after the baby was born and hadn't completely gotten around to finishing the baby's room by the time he was due for arrival). The seat pictured on the left is considered a napper - even though they advise against sleeping in it - and on the right is a changing station. We used this as the exclusive changing table in our house for a solid two months after the baby was born (I'm packing it up and getting it out of my living room tomorrow before the holiday season starts - gotta make room for decorations) and it really has served us well. It gives us somewhere to easily set the baby down for a second while we grab a bottle or change of clothes or just to give our arms a break during the day. I knew the pack n play was a necessity since is serves the purpose of a 'bassinet', as well as a play pen [for when baby gets older]. Each Pack n Play has different features, so really consider how you are going to use it in your house before deciding on one!!
Boon Grass is amazing! I have seen this popping up in mommy blogs for years and thought it looked a bit weird. However, I listened to those blogs and received it as a shower gift and the only regret I have is not asking for the Lawn (the only difference between the grass and lawn is the size). This is the perfect place to dry all bottle and pump parts without them touching a drying rack (those can get pretty gross after a few uses). And, bonus, they work really well for white wine glasses too!! The Flower and Twig attachments are also really great for drying nipples and the top rings of the bottles (it took me about 6 weeks before I had to go get the flower and twig because the nipples and bottle rings were taking up too much room on the grass).
The Boppy Pillow has held multiple uses in our household since even before the baby was born. I was told in the classes we attended prior to having our baby that bringing a breastfeeding pillow would be very beneficial so you can start out getting used to using it to help with feeding. We brought it with us to the hospital and pretty much the only use it got was my husband using it as a pillow for himself. The hospital pillows, as I'm sure you know, aren't great and he kept forgetting to grab one when he would go home. I didn't find the Boppy super useful for me while breastfeeding as it just wasn't quite firm enough to keep the right placement, however it has come to be a blessing for bottle feeding!! Plus the patterns that are available for the pillow covers are just too cute!!
I find it so crazy how you never realize how quickly time goes until you have a baby and keep track of his milestones!! How has 2 months already gone? How are we already coming up on the holiday season??
Jackson's second month of life was a continuation of adventures. He got to go to his first baseball game - and it was a playoff game!! We went to the Texas Rangers game on October 7 and he slept through pretty much all of it - we were all shocked to say the least! I wrapped him up in my Solly Baby Wrap and we had a blast! It was rainy and a bit cold, but thanks to the wrap, we kept each other warm the whole game! The Rangers lost, which was pretty sad, but we had fun nonetheless!!

Speaking of baseball, this month was so exciting for our family as the Cubbies won the world series! We are huge Chicago Cubs fans and our little guy watched every single game with us! He has never known the Cubs to have a losing record and that alone is special!!

We hit a few milestones this month, and I was most excited about the smiles that we started getting! This little guy is one of the happiest babies I have ever seen! He even seems to be a morning person. Regardless of if he wakes up during the night or not, he always wakes up around 7 am with a smile on his face and just making the sweetest cooing noises. While I'm not a morning person at all, it definitely makes waking up that much easier!!
